Who buys and how
Selling financial data to hedge funds and banks: the doors in
Updated
Funds rarely buy from a bureau they have never heard of; they find a dataset through a listing service or a distributor that already sells to them.
Describe your financial dataset Statements, fundamentals, prices, filings parsed into tables: say what you hold, where it came from and how many years it covers, and we read it against the terms and rules on this site.
The services that reach funds
Of the 21 organisations on our buyer board, the ones whose own pages name investment firms include Neudata, which lists datasets in front of qualified buyers, FactSet, whose partner page counts asset managers and bankers among its clients, and BattleFin, which connects alternative data providers with hedge funds and asset managers.
How a dataset gets listed
Neudata offers vendors self-listing in front of qualified buyers, Eagle Alpha profiles datasets without fees or revenue share, and Datarade asks for a short application its team reviews before a provider can publish. FactSet works through partners it brings into its own platform.
The AI side
Defined.ai runs a partner programme for companies that own data, and Halluminate builds AI benchmarks from anonymised data drawn from real private transactions. For the dataset as part of a company sale, see selling a data company.
